Slow Cooker Black Beans

These beans are better than anything you can buy in a can (at least my daughter thinks so).

2 lbs black beans
4 bay leaves
2 onion soup packets (I make up a substitute that doesn’t have food dye or msg)
garlic (a lot)
9 c. water
1 tbs Better than Bouillon
1/3 lb bacon
1/2 onion, chopped

1. Soak black beans in a covered stockpot full of water overnight.
2. In the morning, drain and rinse.
3. Throw everything into a large (7qt) crockpot and cook on low all day.
4. Remove bay leaves.
5. Eat, or portion into containers and freeze.
